Traci Freeman, TAH Grant Educator

Greetings!

During the 2008-2009 school year, I am taking a leave of absence from my 6-8 grade English/Social Studies teaching position to assist educators in eight different districts. My services pertain to the teaching of American History content. I have received History Alive, We the People, and various other teaching strategies training in my six years with the TAH Grant. If educators want assistance with lessons, technology, and/or content, I would be more than happy to consult with them first, develop a plan, and hopefully come in and teach students or present at a professional development opportunity.  Please link to my TAHG Flyer for more information.

Additionally, the Grant allows me to work on National History Day with students and educators. In this capacity, I can get into local, state, and world histories with all involved. Assisting with the introduction of the program (including the theme), the logistics of an NHD competition, and judging are the areas I can be of assistance. This will benefit those involved as they get ready for the regional competition held in March each year.

As with any federally-funded program, I am required to report my experiences to the federal government via state grant evaluators. If I have been in your school and/or classroom, please link to the "Feedback Form" and answer the four questions. These numbers are reported to the federal government and are greatly needed for the continuing success of the Teaching American History Grant.

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to visit your classroom whether it has been once, twice, and in some cases, three and four times.  Please continue to call on me to assist you in your education endeavors.
